Color Wheel


Open Adobe Photoshop CS2, file>new, call it "rgbModel", 500x500 pixels, 72ppi, rgb color mode, transparent background

Reset Photoshop to defaults:

Window>Workspace>Reset Palette Locations

Click sub-menu triangle, next to "tool" showing in the tool bar

Click sub-menu triangle>Reset All Tools>OK

Click sub-menu triangle, next to "tool" showing in the tool bar to close sub-menu

Rename layer 1 to "transparent", by double clicking the present label name

Make 3 new layers, naming them "red", "green", and "blue"

Make sure the "red" layer is selected

In the tool palette, choose the "Elliptical Marquee" tool, it is shares space with the Rectangular, Single Row and Single Column Marguee tools

In the tool bar, click the drop down "Style" menu and scroll to "Fixed Size"

Put "250 px" in both the width and height boxes next to the "Fixed Size" field

Change the "Foreground" color to pure Red (255,0,0), and the "Background" color to pure White (255,255,255)

Select the Gradient tool, it is the 6th tool down on the right. It shares the same space as the paint bucket tool

Hold down your shift key (to keep it straight) and click and drag starting 3/4 to the left of center and drag to about 1/4 outside the marquee

Select the green layer

Change the "Foreground" color to pure Green (0,255,0), and the "Background" color to pure White (255,255,255)

Select the Gradient tool, it is the 6th tool down on the right. It shares the same space as the paint bucket tool

Select the blue layer

Change the "Foreground" color to pure Blue (0,0,255), and the "Background" color to pure White (255,255,255)

Select the Gradient tool, it is the 6th tool down on the right. It shares the same space as the paint bucket tool

Hold down your shift key (to keep it straight) and click and drag starting 3/4 to the bottom of center and drag to about 1/4 outside the marquee

Select>Deselect (Cmd + D) to make the "Marching Ants" disappear


With the "Move Tool", arrange the circles so they form a 3-ring look

Turn the red, green, and blue layers  "Layer Mode" to "Screen"

Save your project with all the layers as lnRGB.psd (ln = Last Name in lower case)

You will need this in another assignment - make SURE you have saved the layers
