Using Director 11, make a billiards 8-ball (in the paint window) roll across
a 320x240 stage, 15fps over 2 seconds, put a transition "wipe center out"
on the ball, in frame 31 make a button that says "start over" and behavior
that takes you back to frame 1. Put a loop behavior in frame 31 to
wait for the button to be pressed. Save as ln8Ball.dir
SAVE OFTEN!
Open Director 11
If not open all ready, open the Score, Cast, Stage, Inspectors>Property,
& Control Panel.
Arrange the windows so that they all can be seen.
Select the Stage, then Property Inspector>Movie tab
Choose a nice green color for the stage, system Mac, & a stage
size of 320 X 240.
From the menu: Director>Preferences>Sprite...
Stage Selection>Entire Sprite
Span Default>Tweening
Span Duration>1 frame
Terminate at Markers
Set your Control Panel to Loop & 15fps as a tempo. You can now
close that window.
From the Top Tool bar, click the "Paint Window" button.

Label the new Cast Member "8 ball"
In the Paint Window, click the foreground color & choose black.
Hold the shift key and draw a small perfect circle with the "filled
ellipse" tool.
Choose white as a foreground color.
Draw a smaller white circle on top & off center of your black circle.
Choose black as a foreground color.
Dbl. click the text tool, choose Helvetica , Bold, 14 pt. Type an
"8".
Hold your mouse down on the "rectangular marquee" tool & choose "See
Thru Lasso".
Marquee around the "8", & drag it over the white circle.
Dbl. click the "registration" tool, to set the registration point to its
center.
Close the paint window
Make sure View>Sprite Overlay>Show Paths is checked
Select Fame 1, Channel 1 in your score.
Drag the cast member to the stage and place it in the lower left-hand
corner.
Select your "sprite". In the Property Inspector, make sure the sprite
tab is selected, and give it an "ink" of "Matte"
EITHER, hold the option key & drag the keyframe out to frame 30, or
in the Property Inspector, change the end keyframe to frame 30 from the Property Inspector Window
With ONLY keyframe 30 high-lighted, hold your shift key and drag the sprite
to the right-hand side of the stage.
Hit the rewind button, then play you animation. Your sprite should
"slide" across the stage
Save as ln8Ball.dir (ln = Las Name in lower case)
Select Channel 1, Frame 30 (ONLY)
In the Property Inspector, type in 720 in the rotation field box &
hit "return"
Hit the rewind button, then play you animation. Your 8-ball sprite
should now roll across the stage.
Select Channel 1, frame 31.
Bring up the tool Palette, Window>Tool Palette, if it not already up
CHANGE THE TOOL MODE FROM DEFAULT TO CLASSIC
Select the "Push Button" tool, & drag a button at the top of the stage.
Type "Start Over" in the button.
Dbl. click the "start over" cast member in the "Cast" window.
Edit your text to Helvetica, Bold, 18 pt, Center. Close in the "hit"
area. Close the window
Select the Transition channel, frame 31. Dbl. click it. Check
out some of the various transitions. Choose the "Center Out, Horizontal"
Wipe, Duration of 2 seconds, smoothness towards the left side, & Affects
"Changing area only".

Test your animation. Make sure to stop it before proceeding. Have
you saved lately?
Select frame 31 in the Script channel.
From the menu: Window>Library Palette>Navigation
Grab the "Hold on Current Frame" and drop it on the Script channel, frame
31

Create a "Marker" labled Start in the "Marker bar" over Frame 1
From the menu: Window>Library Palette>Controls
Grab the "Jump To Marker "script and drop it on the "Start Over" button
When the dialog window pops up choose the "Start" marker as the place to "jump to"
Rewind and play your animation
Save
